Co-Founder & Managing Member
A lawyer by training, Michael makes it MadisonJay’s mission to provide practical, actionable information and advice to its clients. He draws on his prior regulatory and securities law practices, as well as his work in the beverage alcohol industry, to help MadisonJay's clients navigate the regulatory thicket.
After graduating Harvard College and Harvard Law School, Michael began his career serving as a law clerk to a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
After his clerkship, Michael spent more than five years litigating at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, frequently named one of the nation’s best law firms. At Cravath, Michael counseled numerous Fortune 500 companies on their compliance programs and defended them before a myriad of regulatory agencies. He also frequently provided regulatory risk assessments for mergers and financing deals. Though his broad practice spanned the gamut of industries, Michael advised companies that operate in a variety of highly regulated spaces including pharmaceuticals, banking, and gaming.
After Cravath, Michael joined MHW, Ltd., the leading provider of solutions for alcohol producers. As General Counsel of MHW, Michael brought the same creative problem-solving ethos to bear.

Ed's distinguished business career has involved leadership roles within many of the nation's leading companies, including his longtime service as Chairman of MHW, Ltd. As a result, they innovated a new service model to ease the bottleneck keeping new brands from the market. Their vision has led to MHW’s widespread recognition as an industry leader.
Ed has helped lead many of the nation's most prominent businesses. In addition to his role as Chairman of MHW, Ltd., Ed has also served as head of Organizational Planning and Development for American Airlines, global head of Human Resources for EMI Music, global head of Human Resources for PepsiCo International, and Chief Personnel Officer of Kodak Polychrome Graphics. In addition, Ed manages a robust practice as an executive coach and advisor to boards.
Ed holds a Ph.D. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and is a nationally recognized expert in executive assessment and leadership development. John has long been a nationally recognized leader in the provision of services to producers of alcohol, with a career spanning 35 years. Since 1995, John has served as President and CEO of MHW, Ltd. helping some of the nation's prominent brands expand throughout the US.
At his core, John is a problem-solver. Leveraging his decades of beverage alcohol expertise, John helps the MadisonJay team bring the same innovation to the adult-use cannabis industry that he brought to beverage alcohol.
